Rowena Robinson, professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, has focused her research on the sociology of religion and kinship, conversion, and Christianity in India. This lecture, titled "Through the Looking Glass: Indian Catholicism Observed," was part of the inaugural colloquium on Catholics & Cultures, held December 9, 2011 at the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. Mathew Schmalz, associate professor of religious studies and director of the College Honors Program at Holy Cross, follows with a response.
