Meskel, the Feast of the Discovery of the True Cross, is celebrated nationally in Ethiopia on September 27, 2013. The national celebration is held in Meskel Square, Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. This mostly Orthodox celebration, one of the most anticipated days of the year, is also celebrated by Ethiopian rite Catholics, for whom the day is a feast.
In contrast to the very slow, calm pace of Ethiopian worship, this day is a time for dancing and celebration. The chants are religious ones particular to this feast. Learn more at http://www.catholicsandcultures.org/e....
